Marine Fishing Regulations

NYS DEC establishes the state fishing regulations in fulfillment of the fisheries management goals that have been identified by the regional fisheries management councils and commission. The rules include closed seasons, bag limits and size limits for many fish that being caught by anglers and the rules may change from season to season. Anglers are encouraged to contact the NYS DEC to learn about the changes at the beginning of the fishing season.
