Marinas,
by necessity, are located right on the water.
Unlike most inland businesses, where there is a buffer
between the site and the shoreline that allows pollutants to be
cleaned up or at least diluted before reaching the waterway, hazardous
or toxic materials spilled or left on the ground at a marina may
enter the water essentially undiluted if proper precautions are
not taken.
