Being
on the water, marinas and boat clubs are also often located right
next to some of the most productive and fragile habitats in the
coastal zone like the wetlands shown here.
Wetlands serve as the nurseries for a variety of wildlife
including finfish and shellfish. Polluting these areas could adversely affect
these important resources. Many
of the boats found in these facilities are often used for fishing. Anything that harms fish or their habitat could
diminish the boating experience and eventually reduce the demand
for boating services and facilities.
Recreational boating and the businesses it supports are
dependent on clean water.
