Section 4: Fueling
Gas, diesel and oil are toxic to aquatic plants and animals. Fish
and shellfish are sensitive to very low concentrations of petroleum
products in the water. Concentrations equal to 1 drop of gas in
17 gallons of water can harm some aquatic life. Proper storage
and handling of petroleum products is essential to prevent these
materials from getting into the environment. This section provides
information on how to minimize spills and leaks from your fueling
operations.
