By reclaiming the plastic media, the equipment in this truck reduced the amount of waste material generated by stripping a 19-foot boat from 200 pounds (paint and media) to 15 pounds of actual paint chips.  However, there are some limitations to these technologies.  The equipment is relatively expensive (approximately $25,000), requires specialized training, and cannot be used on all boats or paints.
