Stormwater
runoff is a major problem in many coastal areas. In marinas, paint and paint chips, solvents,
petroleum products and other chemicals commonly used in maintaining
and repairing boats that are left in exposed areas can be picked
up by rain water and carried into the surface water where they
can degrade water quality and adversely affect living marine resources.
