There
are a variety of storm water runoff BMPS that can be used to reduce
pollution from marinas and boating clubs.
BMPs can be divided into 2 categories: Source Reduction
BMPs and Treatment Control. Source
reduction BMPs may include using non-toxic materials or keeping
potential polluting materials from coming into contact with rainwater.
Treatment controls involve capturing and treating runoff
that has come into contact with pollutants before it reaches the
river, bay or groundwater. In general, source reduction BMPs are much
less expensive to implement than treatment controls.
