Stony Brook, NY, June 28, 2016 - The Second Annual "Ferry 2 Two Roads" event—slated for a 10:15 AM start at the Port Jeff- Bridgeport Ferry Terminal in Port Jefferson, NY on Saturday, July 9th—is more than a summertime celebratory event.

A portion of the proceeds from the event, which includes a round trip ferry ride across the Long Island Sound as well as a tour of the Two Roads Brewery Stratford, CT and some drinks and live music, will benefit Long Island Sound programs delivered by New York Sea Grant (NYSG).

"Great tasting beer starts with clean water," says Amy Mandelbaum, NYSG's Long Island Sound Study Outreach Coordinator. "And studying New York’s coastal waters and sharing that information with our stakeholders is what New York Sea Grant is all about."

Long Island Sound is one of the 28 nationally-designated estuaries under the NEP, which was established by Congress in 1987 to improve the quality of Long Island Sound and other places where rivers meet the sea.

The Long Island Sound Study, conducted under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Estuary Program (NEP), is a cooperative effort between the EPA and the states of Connecticut and New York to restore and protect the Sound and its ecosystems.
