The
first step in identifying and implementing effective pollution
control practices is to take a good look at your facility, pinpointing
where potential pollution problems are and reviewing your existing
policies and procedures for minimizing these problems.
While no single BMP is appropriate for every facility,
let’s take a look at some of the areas and activities associated
with marinas and boating that are of most concern in terms of
contributing to potential pollution problems and some of the BMPs
commonly suggested for addressing these problems. This is by no means a comprehensive listing
of all the available BMPs. However,
it should give the viewer an idea of the types of things that
should be considered to further lessen the impacts of marinas
and boating facilities on water quality.
