Oswego, NY, September 14, 2021 - Welcome aboard BOAT NY, a monthly conversation with New York Sea Grant Recreation and Tourism Specialist Dave White and Central New York Boat Show Manager Drew Wickham (Dave & Drew) about boating in New York.

In this month's segment we’re talking about the boating season's extension beyond Labor Day and through Columbus Day. With that, Drew and Dave discuss safety as well as some of the unique things you can do on the water for the fall.

Join us each month for a new installment of Boat NY, which is brought to you by the Central New York Boating Industries Association of Upstate New York (CNYBIA) and New York Sea Grant. New episodes will debut on the CNYBIA's Facebook page as well as the BOAT NY YouTube channel.

Learning about environmentally-sound boating practices is a key interest for recreational boaters, which is why in 2008 New York Sea Grant initiated a “Discover Clean & Safe Boating” project. This effort, which successfully debuted at the Boating Industries Association of Upstate New York show, has since become a model industry-partnered educational effort that has expanded from Great Lakes’ venues to sites statewide.

The Discover Clean & Safe Boating vessels, provided by New York State manufacturers and local dealers, drive annual companion programs emanating from their type (pontoon, cruiser, fishing, canoe). They are equipped with all legally-required and recommended equipment.

To help spread the word about the on-going campaign's efforts, NYSG's Recreation and Tourism Specialist Dave White regularly appears in TV segments, on air at various Central New York radio stations and is often quoted in local news stories and on blogs.

New York Sea Grant (NYSG), a cooperative program of Cornell University and the State University of New York (SUNY), is one of 34 university-based programs under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Sea Grant College Program.

Since 1971, NYSG has represented a statewide network of integrated research, education and extension services promoting coastal community economic vitality, environmental sustainability and citizen awareness and understanding about the State’s marine and Great Lakes resources.
