As the summer boating season comes to an end, there are several things we all need to remember to ensure our boats are put away properly. Dave White tells us what we need to know about storing your boat.

Syracuse, NY, October 22, 2011 - Welcome aboard Discover Better Boating. I'm Dave White and today unfortunately we need to talk about putting our boats away for the winter.

As the summer boating season comes to an end, there are several things we all need to remember to insure our boats are put away properly. Joining me today to provide some helpful reminders is Hans Wahl here at French Creek Marina. So, Hans, what is the first thing boaters should be thinking about when getting their boats ready for the winter?

"Get it out of the water, make sure the plug is out, consider washing the bottom - getting rid of the seaweed helps protect the gelcoat from getting blisters. You can deal with painting and waxing in the spring."

As seen in the video, Hans also offers tips on prepping boat engines and storing the battery for the winter.
