Buffalo, NY, November 8, 2018 - WBFO’s Angelica Morrison recently spoke with University at Buffalo Professor Helen Domske, the Senior Costal Education Coordinator for New York Sea Grant. In June, Domske received the Vallentyne Award, the highest outreach honor from the International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR), for her work in Great Lakes education and outreach.

Over the last 40 years, Domske has worked with teachers and students on range of topics, including invasive species and plastic pollution.

"Helen's many outreach activities, enthusiasm for the Great Lakes, and innovative ideas for outreach and education, including a ‘teach the teachers’ approach to multiply the students who can be reached, is truly inspiring," said Joseph Atkinson, chair of the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Buffalo.
