As part of the Federal program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has identified several activities associated with marinas and boating that could potentially affect water quality, and has specified management measures that the states must enact to minimize possible pollution from their activities. While boating clubs are not specifically covered under the Federal program, these facilities are often involved in similar activities.  Some of these management measures, listed on the left, are concerned primarily with the siting and design of new marinas and will not be covered here.  Others pertain to the operation and maintenance of existing facilities and will be the focus of this presentation.
