Info Needed, Provided on Oil-Spill Monitoring and Research

Information Sought and Provided on Oil-Spill Monitoring and Research

Scientists performing oil-spill-related research and monitoring activities are encouraged to enter their information into the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Research and Monitoring Activities Database, hosted by the Gulf of Mexico Sea Grant Programs Oil Spill Resources Web site.

Researchers can enter their projects in less than five minutes per activity. In addition, a separate Web page has been developed on the Sea Grant resource site to list opportunities for researchers and others to find oil-spill-related research, monitoring, and restoration funding opportunities (click here).

Many organizations have provided input and endorse this online clearinghouse. NOAA’s National Sea Grant Office and Gulf of Mexico Sea Grant programs initiated the effort, and the National Coastal Data Development Center built and designed the database.

This news item appeared in the October/November 2010 issue of NOAA’s Coastal Connections, a bimonthly publication focused on tools for coastal resource managers.
