Stony Brook, NY, July 15, 2019 - On Saturday, September 14, 2019 the Long Island Sound Study (LISS), Peconic Estuary Program (PEP) and South Shore Estuary Reserve (SSER), in partnership with The WaterFront Center and Friends of the Bay, will host the 2nd annual Estuary Day in Oyster Bay, NY to kick-off National Estuary Week.
Estuary day is an excellent opportunity for organizations and individuals alike to enjoy and learn about estuaries.
This year's theme is “Marine Debris” and its impacts on the environment.
The day will include a beach cleanup with Friends of the Bay (8 am to Noon), an information fair (11-2), a sail aboard Christeen with the WaterFront Center (2-4) and a variety of lectures, crafts, paddling, and beach activities between 11 am and 2 pm.
