Syracuse, NY, February 5, 2013 – Three paddlesports safety presentations have been added to the in- water demonstrations at the February 13-17, 2013 Central New York Boat Show at the NYS Fairgrounds.
New York Sea Grant and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will present the paddlesports safety demonstrations on Saturday, February 16 at 2pm and 6pm and Sunday, February 17 at 2pm. The demonstrations will include information on required and recommended safety gear and precautions, including the use of life jackets for canoeists, kayakers, boaters and others who enjoy water sports.
In-pool demonstrations of the different types of personal floatation devices (PFD) will take place at the show on Thursday, February 14 and Friday, February 15 at 7pm, on Saturday, February 16 at 12 noon and 4pm, and on Sunday, February 17 at 12 noon and 3pm.
New York Sea Grant, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Full Throttle Life Vests, Syracuse Pool & Patio, Marathon Boat Group, and Morgan Recreational Supply are sponsoring the demonstrations that are part of New York Sea Grant’s BoatUS Foundation award-winning Discover Clean & Safe Boating education campaign.
Those attending the in-water demonstrations can register for the opportunity to win a Shoremaster Navigator Kayak, a Full Throttle Type III Inflatable Life Vest, or a free adult Boating Safety Certification class with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
The Central New York Boat Show is New York’s largest and oldest boat show, with more than 500 power, sail and sport boats, personal watercraft, water recreation equipment, marine accessories and services, and docks on display in three buildings. Show hours are 1-9pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 10am-9pm Saturday; and 10am-5pm Sunday. Admission is $10/person; children 13 and younger free. Parking and shuttles are free. The Central New York Boat show is organized by the Boating Industry Association of Upstate New York, www.cnyboatshow.com.
