Syracuse, NY, July 23, 2011 - In this month's "Discover Better Boating" segment, New York Sea Grant Recreational Tourism Specialist Dave White talks about the opportunity for everyone to have boating fun on New York's lakes, rivers and bays by renting a boat.
We are starting in Hibiscus Harbor on Cayuga Lake with a great family boat, a pontoon boat. From there, we'll head over to Skaneateles Lake to check out a sailboat. Also there are several rental locations where you can rent a fishing boat, a ski boat, or personal watercraft.
When planning your summer boating fun don't forget about the great places we have to enjoy paddling in a personal watercraft. "Renting a kayak or canoe for the entire family makes for a great boating day," says White. There are specific rules on renting personal watercrafts, though, so be sure to discuss them with the renting company.
Be sure to join us next month as we talk about being good environmental boat stewards.
Discover Better Boating is brought to you by the Boating Industries Association of Upstate New York, and New York Sea Grant. The Discover Better Boating segments will run on YNN stations every third Saturday through October.
The YNN channel, based in Syracuse, telecasts two separate program feeds, one to Central/Northern New York; one to the Southern Tier. YNN is available to nearly 600,000 cable subscribers across a 25-county, 15,000 square mile area.
