Features works by a naturalist/illustrator who's done a series for NYSG
Stony Brook, NY, September 10, 2010 - Several paintings and drawings of naturalist/illustrator Jan Porinchak are now on display at "Wildlife and Botanicals," an exhibit at Cold Spring Harbor Library in Cold Spring Harbor through September 30. An artists' reception will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 pm. Porinchak has three paintings and drawings on display alongside the works of several other Long Island naturalist/illustrators.
Porinchak created the artwork for New York Sea Grant's Long Island Bays and Great Lakes posters as well as illustrations of the lobster life cycle and brown tide in LI bays. Here are examples of this work:

Porinchak comes from a family of artists and art educators and is himself an art teacher on Long Island. An avid outdoorsman and naturalist on Long Island, he also enjoys fishing in the Great Lakes.
